Trailer Overview
The God of War Laufey gameplay reveal trailer was shown during the June 2026 State of Play. It gave players enough real footage to start reading stance, spacing, environments, and story clues instead of just reacting to the title card.
Environment & World Design
The trailer showcased a variety of environments within the Everywhen:
- Frozen Nordic landscapes reminiscent of Midgard and Jotunheim
- Desert environments suggesting Egyptian mythological regions
- Architectural styles blending multiple cultural influences
- Dynamic weather and lighting effects
Combat Details
The combat footage gave us a few strong reads, even if full systems are still hidden:
- Faster, lighter movement than Kratos' usual combat rhythm
- Effects that suggest some mix of Giant magic, runic power, and axe-driven offense
- The Leviathan Axe returning with a different cadence in Faye's hands
- Phranque joining combat in a way that looks more active than simple background support
- A combat feel that stays recognizably God of War even when it speeds up
Characters & References
Several characters and references were spotted in the trailer:
- Laufey (Faye) — clearly framed as the playable lead
- Phranque — the strange new companion attached to Faye throughout the footage
- Visual references to Kratos and Atreus
- Potential new characters not yet identified
