As of August 18, 2026, Sony has not announced any editions for God of War Laufey: no edition list, no price chart, no preorder bonus breakdown (collector-edition trackers confirmed as recently as late July that no special editions have been announced). But the official-side picture has moved noticeably since June:

• The PlayStation game page now displays the confirmed release date — February 16, 2027, 01:00 PM UTC — with an “Editions:” label holding no content: the storefront slot for edition listings exists, it is just empty.
• The same page states “Pre-orders for God of War Laufey will go live closer to release”— official first-party wording, replacing the earlier “release date to be determined” store status.

Read together: the platform for announcing editions has been quietly assembled, and with the game roughly six months from launch, the edition reveal has entered a countdown window — gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 is the nearest candidate. Until then, nothing is official, and this page sticks to historical precedent for expectations.

God of War (2018) launched with several tiers that set the template for modern PlayStation first-party releases:

• Standard Edition — The base game. Launched at $59.99 on PS4. No additional content beyond the base experience.
• Digital Deluxe Edition — Included the base game plus digital extras: a shield skin, a dynamic theme, a digital comic, and a digital soundtrack. Priced at $69.99.
• Collector's Edition— Included the Digital Deluxe content plus physical items: a 9" Kratos & Atreus statue, a cloth map, a troll statue, and premium packaging. Priced at $149.99.

The 2018 edition structure was well-received — the Digital Deluxe offered meaningful digital content without a huge price jump, and the physical collector tiers provided genuine high-quality collectibles rather than cheap merch.

Ragnarök's edition strategy expanded on the 2018 template and reflected the industry's shift toward cross-gen pricing:

• Standard Edition (PS4) — $59.99. Base game on last-gen hardware.
• Standard Edition (PS5) — $69.99. Base game with next-gen enhancements.
• Launch Edition — A limited-time bonus offering the base game plus DLC armor and appearance items for preordering any edition. Essentially a preorder incentive rather than a separate tier.
• Digital Deluxe Edition — $79.99 on PS5. Included the base game, Darkdale armor set, Darkdale attire, a digital soundtrack, a PSN avatar set, and a digital artbook.
• Collector's Edition— $199.99. Included a 16" Mjölnir replica, a Steelbook display case (no disc — download code only), the Dwarven dice set, and the Digital Deluxe content.
• Jötnar Edition— $259.99. The premium tier. Everything from the Collector's Edition plus a 7" Kratos & Atreus statue, a Falcon Cloak replica, a Yggdrasil cloth map, and additional physical items.

Ragnarök notably introduced the $69.99 PS5 standard price point that has since become the norm for PlayStation first-party titles. Its collector editions were larger and more expensive than 2018's, reflecting both inflation and the franchise's grown stature.

Based on the historical pattern from 2018 and Ragnarök, plus the current state of PlayStation's edition strategy, here is what Laufey's edition lineup is likely to include:

• Standard Edition (PS5) — $69.99. Laufey is PS5 exclusive, so there will be no PS4 version. This is the safe default prediction — every major PS5 first-party title since Ragnarök has launched at this price.
• Digital Deluxe Edition— $79.99 to $89.99. Likely includes digital armor skins, weapon cosmetics, a digital artbook, and a soundtrack. Laufey's new mythological themes (Egyptian, Mongol) give Santa Monica Studio rich visual material for cosmetic items.
• Collector's Edition— $199.99+. Almost certainly includes a physical collectible tied to the game. Given Faye's new protagonist status, a Faye statue or a Leviathan Axe replica would be natural choices. The Everywhen setting also opens the door to more creative physical items — perhaps a replica of Rue's legendary sword or a Phranque-themed collectible.
• Premium / Ultimate Edition— Potentially $259.99+. If Sony follows the Ragnarök model, expect a top-tier edition with the largest statue and the most physical items. The “Jötnar Edition" naming suggests they will use Laufey-specific mythology for the edition names as well.

Based on previous God of War releases, edition announcements typically come 3–6 months before launch, alongside the official release date and preorder opening. For context:

• God of War (2018): Editions revealed several months before the April 2018 launch
• God of War Ragnarök: Editions revealed in July 2022, roughly 4 months before the November launch

The timeline has since firmed up: the release date is confirmed as February 16, 2027(SDCC, July 24), placing Laufey squarely in the 3–6 month pre-launch edition-reveal window right now — and consistent with that pattern, the PS game page's “Editions:” label and “pre-orders closer to release” wording have already appeared. The nearest candidate windows are gamescom ONL (Aug 25, 2026) and a State of Play later in the year.
