Life in Jotunheim

Laufey lived in Jotunheim as one of the last Giants. By the time players meet the world of God of War (2018), most of that story is already gone, which is exactly why every scrap of Faye lore carries so much weight.

The Guardian Identity

Faye earned the title "The Guardian" through both strength and responsibility. The core picture players get from the Norse games looks like this:

  • She is tied to a legendary clash with Thor that fans still talk about as one of the great off-screen events of the Norse saga
  • She was one of the few Giants who chose not to hide
  • She possessed the gift of prophecy, seeing events before they happened
  • She deliberately shaped events that would unfold after her death

Marriage to Kratos

Faye met Kratos in the Norse wilderness and gave him something the series almost never lets him keep for long: peace. Their relationship matters because it changed Kratos before the player ever picked up the axe in 2018.

Together they had a son, Atreus. Faye chose the name "Atreus" after a Spartan warrior who brought hope, while the Giants knew him as "Loki."

The Secrets She Kept

Faye kept many secrets from Kratos and Atreus, not because she was distant, but because she understood exactly how fragile the path ahead was:

  • She hid the truth about her Giant heritage
  • She concealed her gift of prophecy
  • She left markers throughout the realms to guide Kratos and Atreus
  • Her final wish — to have her ashes spread at the highest peak — was designed to start their journey

ℹ️ God of War Laufey

This is one of the pages most likely to gain weight once Laufey is closer. If the game delivers on its promise, a lot of half-seen Norse-era history should stop being half-seen.
